  1. Communicating with stakeholders involves the PM engaging the stakeholders on a one-on-one discussion to understand them individually, this helps to shape the PM’s style of communication when reporting and communicating with the stakeholders. It is best to have written report that outlines the particular team or stakeholder at a time; understanding that it can be a bit confusing to report issues to different audience makes a written report pertinent. Analyzing issues by doing a lot of research to come up with positives ideas to culminate arising issues will help the project progress to stay on track. Being tactful and sensitive to situations; also being meticulous and proactive goes a long way to prevent errors and delays.

  2. As a Project manager, It is expedient to tailor your report to the right audience, ensure everyone is in the same time schedule, Remember not to bring bad news for the first time on a table it may give a bad view from the audience, meet individually with everyone involved before bringing it to the forum, Constant communication is necessary with all all lines of control, even to the team as communication helps us foresee problems, so we can analyze options and proffer solution before hand.

  3. When dealing with certain information there should be Clarity of information that is been hand picked before communicated to the stakeholders involved to avoid misinterpretation so as a project manager this should be highly emphasized

  4. As a P.M the importance of constant communication between clients/stakeholders, team members and everyone involved in a project cannot be overemphasised. It will help the project move faster and the assurance of a positive result is guaranteed.

  5. Before any first general meeting with the stakeholders, it is important I communicate individually to the stalkholders any bad news regarding the project, that way, it won’t come as a shock to them during the meeting and also gives me a soft landing in the meeting

Good communication goes a long way in project management. It helps keeps the team on track; what we are missing, areas of improvements, deadlines etc

  6. For me it’s still effective communication, getting to know the project, and all the factors involved in it can make you stress free, and also never be afraid of unforseen circumstances.

  7. Effective communication is a key to foreseeing problems and tailoring communication in a way to suit the person you are committing to is essential as well.

  8. “Never be afraid to share bad news”
Effective communication skills is very important as a Project manager. You mist be able to communicate effectively to all stakeholders whether good or bad news. This is the only way the project can be completed within the deadline.

  9. A project manager needs effective communication with all the stakeholders to achieve desire goals seamlessly.
Two out the three options of communications can also be combined or even the whole as the case maybe. As they both portray good intentions.

  10. Reporting helps so that everyone is aware of where what is in the project that is being carried out.
It is also beneficial to me to have to report individually to the stakeholders before the general meeting, so that the news doesn’t come as a shock and that way communication will be easier.

  11. Communication with the sponsor/stakeholders is very important in project management. It’s also important to tailor communication styles to the person in front of me. Adopt a communication style that suits the person one is working with.

  12. In my organisation, reporting is sancrosanct. This helps in knowing the level of progress in a project. The sponsor/line managers will update the project manager in detail how far they have gone. This report which is normally documented breaks down the success achieved, the expenses, failures/challenges encountered, expenses, and finally recommendations. The report briefing holds once a week where all the line managers submit their reports to the Chairman (Project Manager).
Reporting has been a useful strategy in executing project in my organisation.

  13. Communicating with the stakeholders leads to clarity and transparency of the project. This way everyone is informed. if the budget needs to be fixed, the PM needs to communicate with the stakeholders on why the previous budget did not work. Bad news should also be communicated and discussed to tackle it effectively for the progress of the project.

  14. Adequate communication is essential for a project manager. Understanding the stakeholders and how to communicate with them is also essential.

  15. Regular communication is essential in project management. The way a project manager communicates to team may not be the same he does to his line manager and clients. Therefore the style of communication must be tailored for clarity and to suit the level of interest for the project.

  16. Communicating with clients can pose a daunting task for the Project Manager in the sense that he has to know the client’s current state of mind without asking. He/she has to be able to read nonverbal cues displayed by the client and adapt accordingly. He/she also has to be able to communicate necessary diversions and future challenges foreseen to the client and his team in such a manner that the client will be pleased with his/her foresight.

  17. Communication is essential and very vital for a project manager, keeping the investors informed about the progress can go a long way during the setting up and finishing of the project. In situations where problems are encountered is important to discuss with stakeholders individually in other to avoid having doubts and distrust arising, i also agree with the project manager that suggested checking out the various options and possible solution.

    1. My key take away from the discussion.
Have a written down communication plan.
Regular contact with those on the ground.
Do not be afraid to bring bad news to the table.
      Constant communication with clients.

  18. Communication is a vital part of every project. As project manager the flow of communication between the sponsor. Clients, team members and peers helps the project manager know when if everything is going on well, if project is running behind schedule or not.

  19. Communication is a vital tool in projects.
I try as much as possible to communicate with my clients, on progress, delay in any form and risks in the project. This communication helps me build strong relationship and trust with my stakeholders.
I plan my communication before bringing it to the table, and I also have a written down communication with everyone on my team and I also encourage feedback, so I don’t appear to be a know it all.

  20. According to the three project managers in the video, communication with stakeholders is critical to every project’s success. The most important people we need to keep communicating with are the investors because they are responsible for the initiative and funding of the project. And if there should be changes or additions, our constant communication will enable us to make the necessary adjustments. Moreover, if there is a need for additional pieces of equipment, it will be easily made available.
I will make sure I communicate with the investor every day so that we may be on the same page. And again, suppose there is a challenge, I will follow the advice of the project who said one must avoid dropping bad news in a general stakeholders meeting, as it could be disastrous. I would rather discuss it with different units individually before I bring the matter to the general table. Also, I must have personally done my homework so that I can come up with options concerning the challenge,

  21. Communication is an essential skill for a project manager. A Project Manager needs to communicate effectively with stakeholders and always ensure to give progress report and feedback on a project because effective communication is a key to deliver a successful project.

  22. Communication is key to success in project management. Just as the three speakers explained in the video. In my view, communication in project management is guided by four principles based on the three speakers.

    Key Principles
    1. Identify and analyze stakeholders: Determine who they are, their interests, expectations, and influence level. Don’t generalise the dissemination of information.
    2. Develop a communication plan and style: Communication should be verbal and written for record purposes and future references. Outline stakeholder needs, communication channels, frequency, and responsible team members.
    3. Transparency and honesty: Provide accurate, timely, and clear information.
    4. Active listening: Encourage feedback and address concerns.

    Develop Effective Communication Strategies
    1. Regular updates and progress reports both in writing verbal, graphical and pictorial forms
    2. Tailor communication to stakeholder needs and preferences. In other words, information should be disseminated based on roles and involvement to avoid ambiguity.
    3. Use multiple communication channels (email, meetings, reports, phone calls)
    4. Clarify expectations and requirements
    5. Address conflicts and issues promptly. Don’t shy away from disclosing and discussing negative information. Bad news sometimes has its way of invigorating energy into actions. Above, master the art of presenting information.

  23. As a project manager, I believe communication is very key, not just in project management but in all other fields. My experience as a secretary and personal assistant taught me that being able to communicate clearly with my boss, giving accurate details and information as to what we needed help made the job easier.

    1. Timely communication is essential for a PM. Knowing exactly how to communicate Stakeholders is also very important and discussing bad news individually will help in arriving at a speedy solution.

  24. Constant communication to keep everyone abress with progress on the project, changes that needs to be made in the course of the project.
Tailoring communication to soothe individual stakeholders based on their level of comprehension and individual differences.
Being sensitive to feedback to be able to ascertain their acceptance and reactions to your ideas and their level of supports to deliver the project.

  25. Mastering the art of not shying away from bad news, and most importantly adapting to each stakeholders comprehension style thereby achieving active communication and participation of the stakeholders

  26. Adapting to each stakeholders comprehension style there by achieving active communication and participation of the stakeholders

  27. Communication is a “must have” skill as a project manager. The project manager must communicate always with the stakeholders, especially the project sponsor, who will always be involved at every stage of the project, be it in changes, funding, or additional funding. Through communication, it will be agreed before any step will be taken. communication could be written through emails, oral or physical meeting as the case may be.

  28. Communication is a vital skill for every Project Manager.  A project manager should map out and understand every stakeholder involved in a project and determine the most effective communication strategy or have a communication plan per stakeholder: the sponsors, clients, project team, and peers. Most importantly, a project manager should pay attention to the flow of information to sponsors. At the onset, meeting with the sponsors should specify the project objective and clarify the needed information and details according to the sponsor’s needs and expectations. A good project manager should update the stakeholders regularly and ensure everyone understands the degree of the progress or bottlenecks of the project.

One fantastic clue I got from this learning is not to be afraid to bring bad news to the table, but before you do so, you must have analyzed all the possible solution options. Moreover, never present bad news for the first time in the general meeting where you have all the stakeholders in attendance. It is better to meet them individually before the governance forum.

    1. A professional manager should map out and understand every stakeholder involved in a project and determine the most effective communication strategy or have a communication plan per stakeholder: the sponsors, clients, project team, and peers. 29. Communication is one of the most important thing as a project manager because it tends to help you know and relate well with your stakeholders. The method you use in communicating should be different for every client tho it’s dependant on the stakeholder.

  31. Effective communication with different stakeholders requires tailoring your approach to their individual needs. When communicating with someone who is analytical, present your message with evidence and data. For those who are people-oriented, focus on the emotional impact of your message.

    1. Communication is one of the most important thing as a project manager because it tends to help you know and relate well with your stakeholders. The method you use in communicating should be different for every client tho it’s dependant on the stakeholder.

  32. Constant communication is with this no one is left behind things get done task not done are sorted out and Solutions are given

  33. Communication, communication Open communication is the way to succeed as a Project Manager. Before and during any project, a good project manager would plan communication styles to be used while on a project and must follow through with different stakeholders at the right time

  39. Christopher Nkanta Cohort 18 Team 3

In the organization there have been stages in a project, I had to present to the Stakeholders the proceeds of the project and adopt a Tailored type of Communication to present the proceeds of the project to the stakeholders.

  40. In communicating with stakeholders, it’s important that you have clear written communication and points and datas that you would want to discuss/analyze. This not only brings to mind what needs to be discussed but keeps you on point. You get to know where in the project you are, if you’re at the centre of the desired outcome of the clients, what methodology to adopt or discard. Reporting is very important and working on realistic time schedule. Let your financial offer correspond to the value you’re offering and what they expect. Make sure you communicate the challenges encountered no matter how bad they are with possible analysed solutions which you also make open for deliberations. Never bring this bad news in a forum or meeting where all the stakeholders are present. Discuss individually with the stakeholders before any board meeting that way there won’t be surprises and you can have smooth deliberation.

  41. Effective communication is an essential part of our business. As a market research organisation, we do a lot of interface with stakeholders – clients, sponsors, team members and field operators. For every project, there is always a project briefing with the client to understand the project needs, this is later communicated to the sponsor with the estimated budget for the project. Finally, the project execution team is briefed on the methodology, timeline, and other deliverables and there is a constant follow up to ensure compliance with guidelines.

Effective Communication ensures seamless flow of project because parties understand their role and deliveres optimally.

  42. When communicating with stakeholders, it is important to speak the language they understand. You cannot communicate with all stakeholders the same way. As a project manager, you need to find out what catches and holds the stake holder’s attention and communicate with him with that in mind.

  43. It’s necessary to speak daily with clients, teams to make sure they are up to date with planning changes, additions and also third parties to make sure extra supplies needed are provided on time.

Tailoring communication styles to the person that is being addressed individually. Having a clear stakeholders map will help with this which will show how to interact, advice and work with each stakeholder.

While talking to stakeholders, having a communication plan will help pass across the key messages and also it’s vital to get feedbacks on the communication style and adapt where necessary but making sure it’s supporting the project and my personality.

Keeping up with teams who are getting the job done in order to keep them in frame of the deadline and keeping up with their requirements.

I tailor my communication approach to the individual members of the stakeholders and the team generally.
This is because after studying them and knowing what works best for them and how they think, it helps me communicate better and achieve results.

  46. Effective communication with stakeholders is very relevant because it helps the pm to know how progressive the project is and work on area his lacking as communication is the key to every successful project

  48. Effective communication with stakeholders is very important because it is very necessary to the survival of the project.
As a project manager it is very important to carry each and every stakeholder no matter the position they occupy or their function in the project.

one of the major point taken is that it helps to make good and better decisions.

  49. Effective communication with stakeholders is critical to the success of any project because
Develops Trust: Openness and trust are fostered by regular communication, which gives stakeholders confidence in the project’s advancement and administration.
Manages Expectations: By keeping stakeholders informed about the project’s objectives, schedule, and scope, clear communication helps to avoid misunderstandings.

Reduces Risks: Early resolution of issues and conflicts through effective communication lessens resistance and lowers the likelihood of project delays or failure.
Guarantees Compliance: By meeting legal and regulatory requirements on time, possible legal or operational problems can be avoided.

  50. Depending on the kind of project but putting down the steps and communicate those plans with the stakeholder is the best for me to know their take on such plans.

  51. The strategies of communication in my organization are constant contact between the team lead or project manager, team members, stakeholders and clients. These can be hybrid meetings.

  52. As a project manager, communication is a basis of making any project successful. having an individual conversation with the stakeholders gives head up to knowing what interest them in the project and thereby help to work toward fulfilling it.

  53. As a project manager, communication is the basic necessity in making a project work successful. When there’s a challenge, a problem, talking to your team and especially your sponsors to see if anyone has better idea on how to make it work successfully and achieve same goal.

  54. I have to know that they key to a successful project is constant communication, I have to tailor the communication style to the stakeholder I’m communicating with. It’s also important for me to get feedbacks on how my communication style is working for them.

  55. Communication is very important in the life of a project. Hence having a good strategy for communication during the period of a project will help in ensuring proper dissemination of information. Some strategies in communication that can help is having a constant communication with the client and project teams,Taking into consideration the nature/personality of the person in front of you, getting proper feedback from stakeholders, having proper reports presented at meetings that have been scheduled ensuring that any issues that arise are properly and promptly addressed, don’t be afraid of bringing bad news rather ensure proper homework on the issue is carried out before tabling it and if possible proffer a solution.

  56. The better we communicate our goals and plan for change, the more people will understand the vision and be likely to support the change efforts. Strategy is important: Who, why, and how? Communication should focus on programmatic goals. Plans for communication should be practical and doable.

  57. As a project manager know that your style of communication is crucial to the success of any project.
Plan your communication in advance, with attention to your style of communicating.
Bring in evidence to back up claims and donot be afraid to bring bad news to the table. LOUIS AMOS

  58. Communication is very vital in all endeavours in life. as a project manager involved in the construction industry, I need to send constant and up to date information to my sponsors/ clients on the progress of the project(s), milestones reached, activities yet to be done and the timelines required. Also, they must be informed of any bad news, though individually and the possible solutions outlined to address them. Of importance is my regular communication with my project team. They need to be abreast with whatever adjustments and changes made on the project and what must be done to effect them without altering the project scope and deadline. My company management, 3drd party contractors, local authorities ang host communities must also be included in the chain of stakeholders to communicate with.

  59. I have to know that they key to a successful project is constant communication, I have to tailor the communication style to the stakeholder I’m communicating with. It’s also important for me to get feedbacks on how my communication style is working for them. I have to make sure myself and the stakeholders are all working and communicating on the same time schedule. I shouldn’t be afraid to bring bad news, but it’s usually best to be inform and communicate with the stakeholders individually first, so they can process it before bringing it to a meeting. And it’s important to have analyzed all options and try to bring possible solutions.

  60. It is necessary I keep the stakeholders abreast with happenings in the project. Bad news needs to be broken individually to the stakeholders

  61. It’s important I carry the stakeholders along with the progress of the project, not be afraid to drop bad news but must be careful not to bring in the bad news first and it will be safe to have possible solutions to the problem on ground.

  62. All the communication strategies suggested by the three project managers apply perfectly my situation but what resonated most with me is that i should never spring bad news on the stakeholders. However, as a project manager i am not supposed to shy away from sharing the “bad news” rather the best approach should be to have a one-on-one discussions with them so they are not caught unawares during the general discussion.

As a project manager in the healthcare sector, here are some additional communication strategies that apply well:

    1. Tailored communication in a clear and concise language that is adaptable to who I am communicating with.
    2. Active Listening
    3. Feedback Mechanism
    4. cultural sensitivity
    5. Transparency and Honesty
    6, Communication planning/Technology-Enabled planning
    7. Regular Progress Updates
    8. Interprofessional collaboration.
    6. Stakeholders Analysis

  63. Communication is important to ensuring the success of the project. Carrying appropriate stakeholders along on each project is key to achieving the project’s success.

  64. As a project manager I understand the importance of communication especially when it comes to carrying the team members, stakeholder and the clients along in every step for them to be updated timely

  65. The main key points I gathered are:
    1. Communication with stakeholders and even clients is very vital so everybody under stands what’s at stake.
    2. Tailor your communication style so that the person you’re communicating with can understand you.
    3. It’s good to have feedback from your team on your communication style and on whether it works for them.
    4. A good Project Manager communicates with his team and clients to address time management, if the offer that was made is okay with them, budget, and so on.
    5. Never bring bad news for the first time on the general table. It’s always better to inform all the stakeholders individually before announcing it generally so that, by then, they must have all gotten an idea of what it is about.

    PROJECT MANAGEMENT

  66. Communicating with Stakeholder
Constant communication with stakeholders is key to project managers and also the medium at which the message is communicated is very important you must know the right message to pass across and also feedback is very important that shows that the message passed across was either understood or misunderstood
Reports should also be submitted and as project managers we should not be afraid to speak as it is our duties to ensure that issues are resolved

  67. I came to understand that communucation is key to every successfull project and that as a project manager, you cannot not communicate.
Moreso, while it is important to communicate with stakeholders, it is important to understand their personality and temperament as this would help the project manager know how best to communicate issues to them, be it positive or negative.

  68. first and foremost, communication plays an important role in our daily lives and activities, As a Project Manager with an understanding that communication is a key essential and clients must be carried along and confirm the update that he/she may like to impact. communication must be my highest priority as i am the middle man between my client and stakeholders . Communication with the stakeholders and project team is very important and I will learn to be comfortable be if positive or negative because my end result is customer satisfaction and growth of my company.

  69. “Communicating with stakeholders – DISCUSSION”

Communication is very essential but knowing how and when to give information is very crucial. I particularly liked the input about meeting stakeholders individually to divulge a “bad news” before a major meeting. I believe it also helps stakeholders already start thinking of ways the issue can be resolved. This will ensure a more productive and constructive meeting when these difficult issues come up during a major meeting.

  70. Communication is essential, more so, how you do communicate to the stakeholder(s) is equally important as not all of them are on the same level of comprehension. Get clarification on their needs, set up a communication plan on how frequently the reporting stream will flow, so that they are well informed and managed appropriately.
Lastly, don’t be afraid to communicate issues, though the first time shouldn’t be in a room of all the stakeholders. When communicating issues, proffer possible solutions as this provides a soft landing.

  71. As a Project Manager, I understand that communication is very important and I should first of all ask my client the update that he/she will like me to be updating them from time to time to avoid confusion. Communication with the stakeholders and project team is very important and I will learn to be comfortable with bad news as well.

  72. Communication in project management is very crucial and shouldn’t be overlooked because it enable project manager to forsee problem.
While communicating with the stakeholders as a project manager, ensure you always have everything down on communication plan and note the key messages.

  73. I understand that constant communication is important, You have to communicate on a daily bases in case of any change. Also you need to write out all the plans as you are talking to all your stakeholders. Reporting issues shows your level of progress in the team.

  74. All the strategies suggested by the project managers apply well in our situation.

1: Regular communication: Constantly communicating with the client and all lines of control is key to maintaining the flow of information, foresee problems and proffer solutions. When the client understands how the system works it will help him to make his decision and accommodate necessary changes if need be.

    2) Communication style is very important in order to make sure that everyone is carried along, for example some of the stakeholders are action oriented, some are people oriented while some are analytical, the project manager needs to tailor his communication style to reach or meet the needs of the stakeholders and that will contribute to the success of the project.

    3) Reporting is very important to ensure that everyone understands the level of progress of the project.

  75. As a project manager I have come to understand that constant communication with all lines of controls. Speaking to the clients and carrying them along is very important.

Secondly, as a project manager, I shouldn’t be afraid bringing bad news to the table if any challenge is encountered along the line.
But that “Bad News” shouldn’t be brought to the table when having a first time meeting with the stakeholders.
Discussing with each of the stakeholders one after the other, should be done so you don’t take them unaware and so the news doesn’t come like a bomb shell.
Discussing all the challenges with them and proferring solutions to these challenges is just the best way to address and resolve issues.

N/B: One of the roles of a Project Manager is to make sure issues are addressed and as well resolved.

  76. have learnt that it is paramount on most project to neglect a certain stakeholders which is the sponsor, but as a good project manager you must have a regular communications with these people among other members on the project, from the beginning of the project you must understand what the stakeholders want, how ,why, when, and as the project progresses you must intimate about it and in a situation of bad news don’t know present it to all the stakeholders at once in a same meeting but try to have done a one on one discussions about the said matter and possibly make them see how you intend solving the issues. honesty and transparency is equally important in order to have a project free of distrust either from the stakeholders or the team members.

  77. Communication is a crucial aspect of any Project Management. When communications are been transparent. it makes the project has less errors, and also makes the stakeholders to know the processes of the project.

  78. I understand that firstly you do not neglect your client to do things on your own as they should be carried along and the processes shared with them. Ensuring you you are always positive with your reports .

  79. The strategies that apply well in my situation is the ability to have a map out everything that needs to be communicated to the stakeholders and having a flow of how you want to communicate it.

Another strategy is not dropping a bad news in a meeting of all the stakeholders and it is better to inform each individually before the main meeting .

  80. Grace fafiolu
    Team 5
In communicating with the stalk holders of any project, you need to meet with them to know their expectations in the project at hand, give them necessary information that wil build their trust in the project and enhanced their agreement with the project

  81. The strategies that apply well in my situation is the ability to have a map out everything that needs to be communicated to the stakeholders and having a flow of how you want to communicate it.

Another strategy is not dropping a bad news in a meeting of all the stakeholders and it is better to inform each individually before the main meeting .

  82. I resonate well with the idea of not breaking bad news where all stakeholders are gathered. Instead, it is better to speak with each stakeholder individually before discussing it during a meeting where they are all assembled. Doing this ensures that each stakeholder has already processed the information and formed an opinion that will enhance the discussion positively.

Embracing different communication styles is a very necessary skill for a project manager.

  83. Communication is a critical skill that all project managers must master. Reporting keeps the stakeholder in the know of the present situation of the project

  84. I have learnt that I should never break negative news in a meeting where there are Stakeholders! Doing so is like dropping a bombshell and this could affect the project negatively! It is better to meet each Stakeholder privately to discuss about the negative occurrence than saying it in a general meeting. As a project manager, one must learn to address all issues and proffer solutions that will not have negative effect on the project being worked on.

  85. One critical factor of all the project life-cycle, is communication with stakeholders. They are the main force behind the project success and they must be given first preference at all times. Clarity and precision is encouraged and highly esteemed. The role the stakeholders play is huge and they deserve exclusive interaction. Transparency and timelines is key, also financial disclosure must always be engaged

  86. Communication is very crucial in every project management process.Reporting helps the stakeholders to know the level of the project and to know when and how the capital is being invested into the project.

  87. Effective and regular communication from a project manager to stakeholders in an ongoing project has numerous advantages, including but not limited to clear expectations, increased trust, issue resolution, enhanced reputation, reduced Conflicts, increased productivity, better decision-making, risk management, and project success.
In overall by prioritizing effective and regular communication, a project manager can successfully navigate complex projects with ease, ensuring stakeholder satisfaction and project success.

  88. Effective and regular communication with Stakeholders is crucial to achieving a successful Project. Priority should also be given to Stakeholders who are major influencers to the Project especially Sponsors.
Few points deduced and also applicable at my Organization are:
Communication should be regular, planned and structured
Stakeholder expectation should be recognized to build communication with clarity and direction
Engaging stakeholder through regular feedback is crucial to keep trust.

  89. Communication is one core value that is upheld in my organization, specifically feedbacks and reports concerning small and medium projects carried out. I have discovered that not giving feedbacks promptly could lead into some unwanted problems that could escalate into bigger problems. Prompt feedback is key in communication between the project manager and clients, project manager and everyone involved in the project. Another thing is bringing bad news; we tend to want to keep things when they go wrong but keeping bad news only will bring in a worse thing. So as rightly said by one of the project manager in the video, “Don’t be afraid to bring bad news to the table”

  90. As a project manager, communicating with stakeholders is crucial to ensure project success, some key points to consider include:

    1. Recognize their expectations, concerns, and level of influence.

    2. Tailor your approach to each stakeholder group.

    3. Share project updates, progress, and changes.

    4. Encourage feedback and address concerns.

    5. Set clear boundaries and negotiate when necessary.

    6. Build trust through regular engagement and empathy.

Effective stakeholder communication helps prevent misunderstandings, builds trust, and ensures project deliverables meet their needs.

  91. There is no one-size fit all when communicating with stakeholders. A project manager should be able to tailor his/her communication based on the stakeholder. for example in dealing with an analytical stakeholders, the project manager should have presentable data. Also, having a communication plan is always very useful.

  92. Communication is vital in project management and also in our personal life

    1. **Clarity and Understanding**: Clear communication ensures that all team members understand the project goals, tasks, responsibilities, and timelines. This reduces misunderstandings and errors.

    2. **Coordination**: Effective communication helps coordinate activities among team members, departments, and stakeholders, ensuring that everyone is aligned and working towards the same objectives.

    3. **Problem-Solving**: Open lines of communication facilitate the identification and resolution of issues promptly, minimizing disruptions and keeping the project on track.

    4. **Stakeholder Engagement**: Keeping stakeholders informed and engaged through regular updates and feedback helps manage their expectations and gain their support.

    5. **Risk Management**: Communicating potential risks and issues allows the team to address them proactively, reducing the likelihood of project delays or failures.

    6. **Decision-Making**: Good communication provides the necessary information for making informed decisions quickly, which is crucial in a dynamic project environment.

    7. **Team Morale**: Regular and positive communication fosters a collaborative and supportive team environment, boosting morale and productivity.

In summary, communication is the backbone of successful project management, enabling coordination, problem-solving, and alignment among all involved parties.

  93. According to my organizational context communication plays a vital role in client engagement, communication with the health care team to ensure cohesive patient care. It also entails communication with stakeholders for progress reports.

    1. Grace fafiolu
      Team 5.
I learnt that communication plays a vital role in project management as a project manager, you communicate with the sponsors and the project team.
At the beginning of any project a project manager should meet with the sponsors to clarify certain information.
This is crucial because sometimes sponsors may not be an expert in the project at hand, so communicating with them wil enhanced their agreement with the project

  94. I learnt here that communication is very important at all stages of the project. and it is usually advisable to set the tone and mode of communication from the beginning of the project. and there are different ways of communicating with different stakeholders, and that at critical stage in a project we should not drop certain news especially bad ones at a round table meeting involving the different stakeholders but individually communicate with them to keep them in the know before a general meeting. you should have a transparent means of communication

  95. When it has to with dealing with people communication is very vital in all aspects. So, as a project manager, knowing what to say, how to say it, when to say it, and to who is a crucial skill to develop. Oftentimes, the unexpected happens in the cause of executing the project, which are mostly negative scenarios. It’s expected that as a project manager, you have to be brave with a good sense of emotional intelligence to be able to relate with stakeholders effectively at all times.

  96. Communication is basically the key to a successful project management process. But, while it’s a key, there are some kind of communication(s) (BAD NEWS) that might tend to demoralize stakeholders. Now, just like they said in the video, “Don’t be afraid to bring bad news on the table”. A problem shared is a problem solved!

  97. Effective communication is the key criteria for a successful project management. From the video, constant communication with all the stakeholders on a regular basis, with key evidence such as data proof will inspire them and give them more clarification.

  98. For a project to be successful, communication has to be a clear, constant, timely and should be done in the right space.
As a project manager, there is need to understand that the communication is a two way street.
Each stakeholder must be understood and communicated with using the right channel.

    1. Communication can not be rule out when aiming a successful project. The project manager must always communicate with the client and other project stakeholders.
The communication should be clear, understand and documented for follow up and future reference.

  99. I’m an avid believer of clear and concise communication and it shouldnt be any different for businesses as well as people invest both time, talent and resources into things like this.
For stakeholders,I believe they shouldn’t be left out as they are the head holding a particular project together, they should be very much aware of the progress that is being made in the project and the downsides as well, this would enable both stakeholders and project managers know where and how to tackle whatever issues may arise or not.

  100. I find it effective to discuss bad news with stakeholders individually before a meeting. This approach allows me to identify potential issues in advance and demonstrate preparedness as a project manager. It builds trust and shows stakeholders that I am proactive and competent, increasing their confidence in my abilities.

  101. Being empathetic with stakeholders
    Ensuring daily communication with stakeholders
Tailoring down communication style so stakeholders can understand the process

  102. Considering my organizational context, the following strategies suggested by project managers apply well:

    1. Communication: Regular team meetings, clear documentation, and open channels for feedback and questions.

    2. Time management: Prioritizing tasks, setting realistic deadlines, and using project management tools to track progress.

    3. Continual professional development: Encouraging training, workshops, and knowledge sharing sessions to stay updated with industry trends and best practices.

    4. Ethics and adherence to standards: Establishing clear guidelines, conducting regular audits, and promoting a culture of transparency and accountability.

The following strategies require adaptation to fit my context:

    1. Negotiation: While negotiation skills are essential, our organization’s hierarchical structure may limit the need for negotiation with external stakeholders.

    2. Understanding the regulatory environment: While important, our organization has a dedicated compliance team, so I can rely on their expertise.

To apply these strategies effectively, I would:

    – Collaborate with colleagues to identify areas for improvement
    – Develop a tailored plan to address specific challenges
    – Seek support from leadership and stakeholders
    – Monitor progress and adjust strategies as needed

  103. The idea that appeal to me most and that I often used in my organization is never drop a bad news first in a meeting, meet the stake holders a one after the other before a meeting and it will be more easier to discuss in the meeting. I found it more appealing because it allows you to have known where your fault are before it is being shared in the public and also doing your home before hand also gives your shareholders the encouragement that you know what you are doing as a project manager and it will increase the trust they have in you.

  104. stakeholders are individuals or groups who have a vested interest or influence in a particular project, organization, or initiative. Here are some thoughts.

Importance of Clear Communication: Effective communication with stakeholders is crucial for ensuring alignment, managing expectations, and garnering support. Clear, transparent communication can help build trust and mitigate misunderstandings.

Understanding Stakeholder Needs: Different stakeholders have varying interests, concerns, and priorities. Tailoring communication to address these specific needs helps in fostering productive relationships and achieving mutual goals.

Two-Way Communication: Communication should be a two-way process where stakeholders have opportunities to provide feedback, ask questions, and express their perspectives. This fosters a sense of involvement and ownership.

Choosing the Right Channels: Utilizing appropriate communication channels (e.g., meetings, emails, reports, social media) based on stakeholder preferences and the nature of the information being conveyed enhances effectiveness.

Managing Challenges: Stakeholder communication can face challenges such as conflicting interests, resistance to change, or misinformation. Strategies to manage these challenges include proactive engagement, addressing concerns promptly, and maintaining transparency.

Continuous Improvement: Regularly evaluating the effectiveness of communication strategies and adapting them based on feedback and changing circumstances ensures ongoing relevance and engagement.

Overall, “Communicating with stakeholders” is not just about transmitting information but about building relationships and fostering a supportive environment where all parties feel informed and valued. Effective communication contributes significantly to the success of projects and organizational initiatives.

  105. In my experience within the banking sector, written communication is particularly effective and aligns with our institutional practices. Project managers in this field utilize a variety of tools to enhance stakeholder interactions. They make use of project management software, online collaboration platforms, email, instant messaging, and video conferencing to ensure effective communication. These tools are instrumental in sharing documents, providing updates, and tracking tasks and deadlines. By leveraging these technologies, project managers can efficiently meet stakeholder needs, maintain clarity in communication, and ensure that project objectives are met on time. This approach highlights the critical role of using diverse communication tools to cater to different stakeholder preferences and project demands in the banking sector.

  106. A good project manager requires good communication skills,a project manager needs to care about people (his team members),he also has to ensure that there’s constant reporting and realistic time schedules.
A project manager should also never be afraid to bring bad news, but must do so discreetly.

  107. Based on the video. The communication style that have worked for me in my organization is tailoring my communication style to individual stakeholders (Project spouscdue to their different professional background and job experience.

At Calux Construction Services limited,, communicating bad news to management has never been an issue provided you also present Recommendation/Possible solutions to the said bad news.

So presenting recommendation/possible solutions along side a bad news to stakeholders helps to shift their attention to the solutions rather than dwell so much on the problem.

  108. The type of communication that has worked for me as a pharmacist is tailoring my communication style to each individual stakeholders and always asking for feedbacks because that will enable me to know if they understand what I’m saying, if they have any problems with what I am trying to communicate and also if they have ideas to contribute.

  109. Every project demands good communication skills and tools between the project team and stakeholders

  110. in every project, communication is a vital part of it, project managers needs it to enable them work effectively with the team, stakeholders, and the peers. if this is not in place, the entire project could be in trouble.

  111. Any software or tools can be learnt. The primary skill of a good project manager is communication and people management.

For me as an executive Assistant I relate on a daily basis with different types and levels of stakeholders; the communication style I have adopted is that which is similar to the second speaker – Communicating with each stakeholder according to their style communication, I usually prefer a one on one interaction because that way I’m able to get feedbacks that aren’t influenced by a third-party in the room and it gives me room to personalize the experience.

  112. Idogbe Ojomenale Daniel
Communication is is very essential and vital in a project because it requires proper feedback and good communication between the stakeholders to The clients, sponsors or Project team. This simply means Communication is Effective when there’s always a Feedback, Therefore it helps to control or regulate problems which may arise as the project progresses.

  113. The role of communication in project management is very vital in ensuring success and rapid delivery. The effort of a Project manager becomes more fruitful and progressive if he gets the full backing and support of the sponsor.

Keeping and maintaining client’s support is largely dependent on the project manager’s ability to carry every stakeholder along by keeping the communication line open and ensuring regular reporting of both evolving challenges and progress being made.

  114. communication is crucial and vital to project managers because they inform vested stakeholders about the progress of the project they are handling. Daily feedbacks are necessary always. Get their inputs and measure if the project is going according to specifics especially the sponsor.

  115. The strategy of communicating with the stakeholders should be on open ground that to be open and to be truthful as a project manager we should always keep the stakeholders to date on how the project is going and we shouldn’t be afraid of sharing both bad new and good new
But before sharing the bad new we shouldn’t always have a way out to solve that problem
And also understanding as a project manager you’d be able to know where each stakeholder is on. You’d be able to identify each of their positions if it would help or hinder the project then it would be easy for you to know what they feel like, and you’d be able to clear their mind and proffer a solution with face to face discussion in case of those who are not really in for the project or have a doubted mind before they come together for discussions.

  116. The engineers on ground are my eyes and ears so it is important I communicate with them regularly.
When issues need to be resolved I do not go to a meeting where all stakeholders are present to discuss it directly, that is like dropping a bomb on their laps. I will first of all, go to them one by one so that they are already familiar with the issues before coming to a general meeting. Thus, managing the shock waves.

Based on the video. The communication style that have worked for me in my organization is tailoring my communication style to individual stakeholders (Heads of Departments, Sectional Managers, Directors) due to their different professional background and job experience.

In my organization, communicating bad news to management has never been an issue provided you also present Recommendation/Possible solutions to the said bad news.

So presenting recommendation/possible solutions along side a bad news to stakeholders helps to shift their attention to the solutions rather than dwell so mush on the problem.

  123. Keeping communication open and daily update. And again, like the speaker highlighted, bringing bad news to the table. Sometimes things don’t go as plan, ability to apply wisdom and know how to drop the news.

  124. In my line of field, I have come to realize that bringing bad news to the table isn’t bad just that necessary homework needs to done and back up plans or alternatives proposed before the meeting to discuss such bad news.
I have also understood that before bringing bad news to a first meeting, it is necessary to communicate with stakeholders individually which also adjusting my pattern of communication to match/suit the stakeholder.
Daily reporting is also applicable in my field as it helps all stakeholders to understand the progress and challenges of project at hand, though some stakeholders might the report written in different ways.
Constant communication asides from report is also important as my field is highly volatile. Situations unaccounted for might spring which might need to be communicated immediately for resolution.

Once you have completed your online presentation, save the slides and send them off to your stakeholders so they can refer to them in their own time.

    5. Project Summary Reports: One of the more traditional methods that is still very effective is the Project Summary Report. Having performed your stakeholder identification research and discovered what information they require, you can tailor these reports to each stakeholder, making this report much more useful and unique.

    6. Group video call or ‘screen to screen’ meetings: Schedule group video calls (e.g. weekly) to give a summary of the project. These are good to get quick responses to sudden obstacles that need to be addressed immediately.

  129. What would work best in my situation is tailoring my mode of communication to the person in front of me. It often makes the flow of communication smoother

  130. In order to customize interactions with stakeholders, it is important to create thorough profiles, schedule regular updates such as newsletters, and be truthful about all developments. Widespread reach is ensured by using a variety of channels, including meetings, video conferences, and emails. It’s critical to tailor messages based on stakeholder involvement and to solicit feedback through Q&A sessions. Understanding is aided by concise, visual communication that is free of jargon. Use advisory boards to include stakeholders in decision-making, resolve disputes quickly through mediation, and use project management software to maintain thorough records. These tactics raise participation, match objectives, and increase overall performance.

Note that the absence of regular updates and feedbacks can make stakeholders less involved in a project which may lead to its abrupt end.

  132. Ibilola Obalaja Team 5

Regular communication with the stakeholders makes them feel as part of the project and regular feedback helps ease whatever doubt they may have.

  133. For someone who has worked in an organization with so many sponsors, effective communication is key Sponsors always want to know how the project is running, what is been done, what needs to be done etc.
Also there’s so much truth in the last tip shared, “do not drop bad news in a platform where all your sponsors are”.
I remember a time, we had insecurity issues from cult rival clashes within the project community which resulted to someone’s death, immediately some of the sponsors got to hear of this, some withdrew while some stopped coming to the site because they feel threatened in the environment.

  134. Well, for me they all made sense, as someone in construction industry, having a good road map of communication would not only lead to timely delivery of project but also increased efficiency. A project managers availability should not be joke with. Most time your team you are leading wouldn’t be serious without your presence to command actions. The communication should be timely and feedback should be given to the client or sponsor of the project as the case maybe. In event of change in plans, the charges should be made known to the parties involved and educated properly on how to carry out the new change. There is pre project communication, on the project communication and post project communication, if a project is not performing very well, it’s the duty of manager to think of how to change strategies and communicate with the sponsor accordingly.

  135. Effective communication with your stakeholders as a project manager helps to manage the expectations of your clients and also helps to manage issues when it arises. Communication is the stepping stone for executing a good project. It builds trust among your team and showcase transparency in the project.
Communication helps to ease tension in a project and also give the project manager the insight on the mind and thought of the team members.

  136. Rose Matarise

Communication with stakeholders is very important. it helps to align goals and that outcomes are understood. It also helps to manage expectations of client regarding project timelines, deliverables, budget allocations and anticipated outcome. It builds trust and confidence between the project team and sponsors.

  137. Effective communication is very important in project management,it helps to pass information to different stakeholders.

  138. Strategies for communicating to my stake holders as a medical laboratory scientist(MLS or MedLab Scientist) . Map showing different stakeholders of the HOD medical laboratory Scientist (who is the PM)
(Patients, laboratory Engineers, CMD, Laboratory Scientist/technicians)
It is important to know the different strategies for communicating with your stakeholders. Every stakeholder have the way they want to be communicated to. For patient you communicate showing empathy. For the CMD and laboratory Engineers you have to always be in contact communication with them. Telling the MD some of the laboratory equipment needed and challenges we are facing in the laboratory, so that the appropriate funds/resources can be released. The laboratory Engineers should always be in constant maintenance of every laboratory Mechaines ensuring appropriate QC (quality Control).
Written down communication: this is suitable for project teams , where SOP’s (Standard Operating procedures) are written. This is a written document showing how every lab test is done, this shows how a test is done according to standards of the WHO. This is written by the laboratory Scientists on the bench and signed by the lab manager and HOD. All lab scientist are expected to follow the SOP and if anyone is not comfortable with it, the SOP will be reviewed according to WHO standards during clinical meetings in the presence of the lab manager and the HOD.
Report: we always undergo weekly reports of each bench during Clinical meetings this will help address some challenges and help to show a way forward. This report helps to ensure an accurate test results are being issued to patients by ensuring everyone present the way he/she performs QC before running any test.

  139. Effective communication with stakeholders is key, the project manager needs to communicate daily with clients to achieve the desired goals. To achieve this, the PM have to be clear and transparent about issues, you have to gather feedbacks to understand what is happening in the room incase there might be need for change which must meet up with the timeframe.
Also, effective communication helps to build trust and relationships with stakeholders.

  140. 5No doubt effective communiaction with stakeholders is an intergral part of project management. It can only yield best results when both client and the project manager remains transparent and honest with each other. However, some clients can be difficult and opinionated, my suggestions on how to mitigate these type of situations are
    1. Talk fluently and clearly, do not use ambiguous terms, it will complicate your idea.
    2. Always use relateble examples, drawing, charts, videos/ demo video that can get your point across accurately.
    3. Give your clients options, tell them your best option qnd the reason for using that method or approach then let them make their choice.
    4. You could always ask your team members or your fellow colleagues in the field for their expert advise or opinions regarding their own experiences. This is where teamwork and networking comes into play.
    5. Always expect and welcome constructive criticism from clients, team members. E.g scrum master, design crew etc you can only grow in the field of project management that way.
Lastly, the success of a project starts at the beginning with effective communication which synergies with dedication, good technical and behavioural skills to achieve the desired result which both parties would be proud of.

  141. Effective project management begins with early stakeholder engagement. Clearly defining roles, involvement levels, and project objectives ensures everyone is on the same page. Honest and transparent communication helps set realistic expectations and prevents misconceptions. Documenting conversations and adapting communication styles to suit different stakeholders is crucial. To ensure successful communication, follow these steps:

    A. Develop a stakeholder communication plan
    B. Customize your approach for each stakeholder group
    C. Solicit feedback to refine your communication strategy

  142. Effective communication is key to any business or organization, communication helps to build trust and relationships, when dealing with a client and there should be maximum transparency in communication and also communication should be on daily basis because it must comprise the review of process engaged in the decision making.

  143. Communication helps to get the project on track. Written communication and ensuring the team onsite are carried along with everything makes the project a success.

  144. I think written down communication plan helps to know different stakeholders key messages to use while creating a project plan

  145. It’s important to initiate communication with stakeholders right from the start of a project. Clearly outlining the roles and levels of involvement for sponsors, clients, and team members, and ensuring everyone understands the project’s goals is key. Emphasizing honesty and transparency helps manage expectations and avoid assumptions, and it’s valuable to document and reference these conversations.

    1. Start by planning your communication with stakeholders.
    2. Then, tailor your communication styles to different stakeholders.
    3. Finally, seek feedback after communication to ensure its effectiveness.

  146. Certainly! Here is the rewritten text to sound more constructive:

It’s important to initiate communication with stakeholders right from the start of a project. Clearly outlining the roles and levels of involvement for sponsors, clients, and team members, and ensuring everyone understands the project’s goals is key. Emphasizing honesty and transparency helps manage expectations and avoid assumptions, and it’s valuable to document and reference these conversations.

    1. Start by planning your communication with stakeholders.
    2. Then, tailor your communication styles to different stakeholders.
    3. Finally, seek feedback after communication to ensure its effectiveness.

  147. Effective communication is the cornerstone of successful project management. A well-structured communication plan, tailored messaging for diverse stakeholders, and obtaining feedback are critical components to ensure communication effectiveness.

    Communication Plan:
A comprehensive communication plan serves as a roadmap for disseminating information throughout the project lifecycle. It outlines what needs to be communicated, who will receive the information, the frequency of communication, and the channels to be used. This ensures that all stakeholders are informed and engaged, reducing misunderstandings and fostering transparency.

    Tailoring Communication:
Different stakeholders have varying interests, levels of influence, and information needs. Project managers must tailor their communication strategies to address these differences. For instance, senior executives may require high-level summaries focusing on strategic impact, while team members may need detailed instructions and updates on daily tasks. Understanding and adapting to these preferences ensures that the message is both received and understood effectively.

    Getting Feedback:
Communication should not be a one-way street. Soliciting and incorporating feedback from stakeholders is essential for refining communication strategies and addressing any concerns or misunderstandings. Regular feedback loops help identify gaps in communication and provide opportunities for continuous improvement. This iterative process strengthens relationships and enhances project outcomes.

In conclusion, the effectiveness of communication in project management hinges on having a robust communication plan, tailoring messages to stakeholder needs, and actively seeking feedback.

  148. Constant communication plays a key role in managing a project.
First- Plan your communication with the stakeholders
Second- Decide your communication styles with different stakeholders.
Third- Get feedback after communication, that’s the only way your communication can be effective.

  149. My name is Okpoko Kingsley Maduabuchi.
Communication in my organizational context is pass through forums.

As a Project Manager, you have to communicate effectively and efficiently, learn to speak to different stakeholders in the way they would understand.
Use direct and honest approach to get feedbacks and improve on the project.
To be solution oriented and having an eye to foresee problems.

  151. Having a communication plan is pivotal to having a successful project. It would help analyse the needs and expectations of the project, ensuring that each team member understands his or her role.
Empathy is important as well as it helps the Project manager understand the strength and weakness of his team members and also help the project manager give vision and inspiration to his team.

  152. Constant communication as always been key in my profession. having to collect the project brief from the client (sponsor) to brief development and transmitting same to the project team, contractors, suppliers, workers and even to the least person on the project.

Without proper and constant communication, the entire project can be ruined. I need to communicate in simple language, ask questions and give instructions in clear and well defined terms.

As a Project Manager when leading a project some skills are essential
    1) communication: As a Project Manager communicating with stakeholders is very crucial and necessary, when there is an issue the Project Manager needs to inform the sponsors and stakeholders when there will be a change in the project or an increase in the budget.

  154. As a Project Manager I interact with the vendor, my boss and the head of finance. I first get details of what my boss expects from the vendor and a time frame to deliver, then I set up a meeting between my boss and the vendor. Decisions are made and I follow up with the vendor to get the Bill of quantity which is sent to the head of finance and my boss. Another meeting is set up with the vendor , my boss and the head of finance so negotiations can be made. The next is payment and project execution.

Communication with stakeholders should basically start from the onset of a project. From the sponsors to the clients and team members, there should be a clear explanation regarding everyone’s roles and level of involvement. The goals of the project should also be made clear. Honestly and clarity must be the watchword. This helps in reducing undue expectations and assumptions. These would be documented and referenced.

Modes and level of communication with stakeholders can also be based on the stakeholders roles and expectation in the project lifespan.
Project sponsors can be communicated through scheduled meetings directly with the project manager. Others can be in the forms of monitoring, information dissemination, collection of feedbacks. The project team must be communicated daily as the case maybe depending on agreed modes.

Overall, every communication with all stakeholders must be regular and open. Levels of involvement clearly written and clarified. Exaggerating a project output must be avoided.

For me I feel that he strategies that work for me are:
1.constant communication with the team on the ground, from previous experience I have had great challenges having a project manager who does not listen to feedback from the final consumer of the produce, that gave me a hard time in project implementation.
2.Reporting helps everyone to know the progress of the project and input needed from all stakeholders.
3.Getting individual meeting with stakeholders helps alot in reviewing project issues, especially when things are not on the right track.
4.Ensuring the stakeholders understand the need to work under realistic time frames.
5.constant communication with the clients, keeping them updated on any plan changes, additions and keeping the team on the ground up-to-date as they carry out their tasks is another crucial task.

  157. Strategies that work for me:
    1. Tailoring communication to stakeholders needs
    2. Having one on one communication with stakeholders
    3. Having a written, planned communication plan

  158. The strategies that works for me are–
    1) Tailoring my communication plan to suit individual project stakeholders.
    2) Not bringing bad news to the table without first discussing it with individual stakeholders before a round table meeting.
    3) Communicating with all lines of stakeholders.
    4) Having a written communication plan.

  159. Team 9.

How to communicate with the stakeholders:
    1. Tailor your conversation according to the stakeholder
    2. Have a written down plan
    3. Constant communication during the project period is key
    4. Making sure everybody are working according to the schedule
    5. Before bringing bad news to the table, also find possible solutions.

  160. Communicating individually with your various stakeholders helps to have a personal views about your work assessment with them.
It helps to get a good view of your progress and your lapses as seen by the Stakeholders

  161. Constant communication is really important as it keeps everyone briefed and aware of the level of progress of the project. Daily communication will help in foreseeing issues and analyzing them to give the necessary solution. It keeps everyone prepared and not shocked by matters arising.

One of the project managers in the video made a statement “Don’t be afraid to bring bad news to the table”. In my view existing communication and a good plan to communicate with the stakeholders will make it easier to discuss the bad news and to find a solution to it together.

Holding onto the statement of one of the project managers “Never bring bad news for the first time in the forum”. This isn’t talking about not sharing the odd situation with the stakeholders but it emphasises having a good communication plan, that tells when and how to relate matters to the stakeholders duly.
Having to discuss the odd situation with individuals before a general meeting would do more to the acceptance level in the general meeting.

  162. Communication must be holistic in project managemnt. Communication with peers to be in line with the working trend, communication ywith the sponsor/line managers to earn their continuous support of the project, communication with project team members to help the project manager stay proactive on issues, and finally be in constant communication with the clients to buy their additional support in areas that need change. Communication with the stakeholders must be holistic.

  163. Communication is key in project management. To have a successful work done, a project manager should communicate to his team/stakeholders, presenting everything as it is and not being scared of bringing bad news to the table.
As said in the video, it should have a better approach on how to present it to the team.

  164. Information is truly key in any project. Having a plan, constant communication and most importantly tailoring it to the stakeholder one is meeting can not be over emphasised. in my organisation presently, I would discuss most of our clients as analytical, people oriented and innovative. So as a Project manager, I have always tried to bring results and evidence, inspire hope and show that we care about the project at hand.

  165. The idea of not being scared of being the one to break the bad news got me so intrigued because for some one like me who focuses on Customer service management, it is often hard to tell management that there has been a decrease in sales as a result of unsatisfied customers but after watching the video and seeing how this could be resolved professionally by meeting personally with each stakeholder before bringing it to the board room, I am nau certain that bad news are essentially part of the ways to grow a company if it is communicated well😁.

  166. The importance of constant and concise communication cannot be overemphasised. In a construction setting, I’m of the opinion that all three strategies mentioned are quite important: constant communication; tailoring communication to who you are relating to and having a communication plan. There has to be constant communication between the project team and the stakeholders because construction mostly involves a lot of change orders. The industry involves a lot of diverse professionals; therefore, communication has to be tailored to everyone to aid effective communication. Having a communication plan helps, as every member of the team knows the plan to follow thoroughly and knows what is expected of them.

  167. In project management effective communication is key. How that a project manager is in the right position to ensure that all deemed information is communicated to the parties/stakeholders. And also, in some cases it’s important to present evidence and data to backup what a product manager is trying to communicate so as to enhance proper understand among parties involved in the project. All this, is so that there’ll be cooperate participation in ensuring that the project is achieved as planned.

  168. As mentioned in the video by the three project managers, one cannot but emphasize that Communication with all stakeholders plays crucial role in ensuring the success of every projects. Hence, project manager needs to be apt in communication skills to present clear and concise up to date information at all times. This can be done either as verbal or written, informal or formal depending the information to be shared or obtained or circumstances involve and also communication its also important in dealing with all project team member so all can be in sync at all times with the scope, timeline, set deliverables for achievement of the project.

  169. Communication is a very vital tool in pm and it’s important to always communicate as clearly as possible. One thing that piqued my interest is to not be afraid to communicate any changes in project cos it’s my duty as a pm to deliver projects.

  170. Communication plays a crucial role in project management because in other for a project to be successful, the project manager must have an effective communication both with the sponsor, team, client and peers.

  172. Some of the strategies suggested by the Project managers that apply well in my situation is
Daily communication to ensure that stakeholders are up to date with the plans of the project, any addition, adjustment, or information that might affect the project, it’s timing and the stakeholders.
Have a written down communication plan for all the stakeholders so as to ensure everyone is getting the right information and feedback they need.

Tailor your communication to suit the individual in front of you. You need to know your team members to pull through on this. So you can communicate with them in the best way they can understand the information using an approach that suits them.

  173. A good communication builds some level of trust between the Project Manager, and the Client.
When there’s a clear communication between the PM, Team, and the client, It makes for a Successful project tasks

  174. Effective communication among stakeholders helps manage risk in project management. And when communicating, use of ambiguous words should not be allowed.

  175. Effective Communication and constant communication with other stakeholder help to share ideas together that with improve the increase of speed of task that is given in project
as a Project Manager you don’t walk in isolation, walking in isolation don’t make you expert of a field
    constant communication
    1. Trust
    2. feedback of task
    3. improve strength of duty
    4, reduce waste of time

  212. Project Manager (PM): Good afternoon, everyone. Thank you for joining this meeting to discuss our new community park project. Our primary goal today is to outline our communication plan with stakeholders to ensure everyone is informed and engaged throughout the project. Let’s start by identifying our key stakeholders. Can anyone share their thoughts on who these stakeholders might be?

Team Member 1 (TM1): I think the local residents are our primary stakeholders since the park is for their benefit. We should also include local businesses, as they might be affected by the construction and could potentially benefit from increased foot traffic.

Team Member 2 (TM2): Don’t forget the local government and city council. We need their approvals and they can also provide funding or other resources. Additionally, local environmental groups might be interested, especially if we plan to include natural habitats or green spaces.

PM: Great points. So far, we have local residents, businesses, the city council, and environmental groups. Let’s also consider our internal stakeholders, such as the project team and our contractors. Now, what are the best ways to communicate with these groups?

TM1: For the local residents, we could hold public meetings and provide updates through a dedicated website or social media channels. Flyers and newsletters could also be effective for reaching a broader audience.

TM2: For the city council and government officials, formal reports and presentations would be necessary. Regular progress updates and formal communication channels, such as emails and official letters, should be used to keep them informed.

PM: I agree. It’s important to tailor our communication methods to each stakeholder group. For the environmental groups, we might consider hosting special sessions where they can give input on the park’s design and environmental impact.

TM1: What about local businesses? They might prefer quick updates via email or even brief in-person visits to discuss how the project might affect them.

PM: That’s a good idea. We could also consider setting up a local business advisory panel that meets periodically to discuss their concerns and suggestions.

TM2: And for our internal stakeholders, regular team meetings, progress reports, and a shared project management platform will keep everyone aligned and informed.

PM: Excellent. To summarize, we’ll use public meetings, a website, social media, flyers, and newsletters for local residents; formal reports and presentations for the city council; dedicated sessions for environmental groups; email updates and advisory panels for local businesses; and regular team meetings and project management tools for our internal stakeholders. Does anyone have any additional suggestions or concerns?

TM1: This sounds comprehensive. My only concern is ensuring we have enough resources to manage all these communication channels effectively.

PM: Good point. We’ll need to allocate some of our budget and personnel to handle communications. We might also consider hiring a dedicated communication coordinator. I’ll look into the specifics and share a proposal in our next meeting. Any other thoughts?

TM2: Nothing else from me. This sounds like a solid plan.

PM: Great. Thank you for your input. Let’s reconvene next week to finalize our communication plan and begin implementation. Meeting adjourned.

Something that stood out for me in the video and will be important for my work is not to drop bad news for the first time in a forum. It’s best to reach out to stakeholders individually and relay the information before convening a forum, that way you can manage their responses properly.

  219. Communication is very vital in interacting with people and individuals, not just communication but effective communication, that is passing information to an individual or a group of people the best way you possibly can.

    – Regular and transparent communication fosters trust and strengthens relationships with stakeholders. When stakeholders feel informed and involved throughout the project lifecycle, they are more likely to support the project and remain engaged.

    – Effective communication helps in managing stakeholders’ expectations regarding project timelines, budget, scope, and deliverables. It allows project managers to address concerns or potential issues proactively, thereby minimizing surprises and maintaining stakeholder satisfaction.

    – Engaging with stakeholders facilitates the gathering of valuable feedback and insights. This feedback can provide important information for making informed decisions, adjusting project plans as needed, and continuously improving processes.

    – Communication also plays an important role in risk management. By keeping stakeholders informed about potential risks, challenges, and mitigation strategies, project managers can collaborate with stakeholders to develop proactive solutions and minimize the impact of risks on project outcomes.

    – Effective communication allows project managers to celebrate project milestones, successes, and achievements with stakeholders. Recognizing and acknowledging stakeholders’ contributions fosters a positive project environment and encourages continued support and commitment.

  341. You need to have a written communication plans and this will enhance you to know adequate things you want to do

There’s a lack of transparency which eventually leads to inefficient, counterproductive decisions that will hinder the aims of the project in question.

  346. Communication with stakeholders is key for the success of the project.
I will tend to support the second Project Manager in his style of communication.
The more informal method of communicating with stakeholders, tailoring your communication style to individual preferences has a way of making the stakeholders feel like a part of the process.
In this case the PM has created a connection with the stakeholders which will facilitate approvals as well as necessary changes as the project may require.

  347. In my organization, a clear communication tailored to each stakeholder is important. Daily reporting, weekly meetings and reminders are ways to ensure timely and effective communications. It is important to have a communication plan mapped out.

  348. Timely communication with stakeholders is key. For example
    1. Daily progress report.
    2. Physical or virtual daily/weekly review meeting to discuss project progress, address risks and make known the support required.

  349. The communication plan can be written to show the processes involved, the risk management can be documented to reduce taking the same risk in the future.
If we want to use analytical process to express the process then we need to come up with data and evidence to convey the message to the stakeholder. The essence is to carry them along every step of the way. Just to be more professional, we can draft out a communication plan for this course.

  350. In my situation, it’s important to adapt communication strategies to different stakeholders, just as project managers do. Some applicable strategies include:

Tailoring communication channels: Utilizing various mediums such as email, meetings, or reports based on stakeholders’ preferences and needs.

Customizing message content: Crafting messages that resonate with each stakeholder group’s interests, concerns, and knowledge levels.

Managing expectations: Setting clear expectations regarding project progress, outcomes, and potential challenges to ensure alignment and minimize misunderstandings.

    1. Daily progress report which is done via email to all stakeholders comprising of project progress per milestone, key risks and support required.
    2. Various WhatsApp groups for instant updates and progress communication
    3. Physical/virtual daily/weekly review meeting to discuss project progress, address risks and support required

  352. As a project manager, communication with stakeholders is one of the major determinant of the success of the project.
It is even more important to prefer for every interaction in writing be it to the sponsor, client, peers or project team.
Before attending a reporting meetings, arm yourself with the likely questions to be asked then provide answers without necessarily trying to defend your position instead let them lead the discussion.

  353. All speakers emphasised on communication but with different ways to communicate. Their plans of communication include the recipients, timing of communication, the different methods of carrying out the information, the content of said reports , tailoring said communication according to the recipients. Communication enables the project manager to envision problems within the project and adjust accordingly

  354. We maintain an open line of written and sometimes oral communication in the execution of tasks. We ensure that the instructions or commands are clear and follow up tasks are better documented.

  355. According to Bill Wooten, in communicating with stakeholders, he maintains the iterative approach. For Emanuele, building a communication map for each stakeholder is important. While Cathy emphasizes the need for written communication (report writing). Within the context of my organisation where multiple projects are being taken up at the same time, the iterative approach where the progress of the project is communication with each completed milestones.

  356. As a project manager, it is crucial to establish clear and open lines of communication with stakeholders to ensure that everyone understands the project goals, expectations, and progress. This alignment facilitates collaboration, minimizes misunderstandings, and enables timely decision-making, ultimately contributing to the successful delivery of the project.

  357. Communication is one of the most important skills for a project manager to have and they did a good job in communicating, it’s impossible to keep everyone on the same page without communication to make sure everyone understands their roles and responsibilities, and ensure that the project is running smoothly. As a project manager I should know how to communicate with my team members clearly, both orally and in writing.

  358. Communication is a great skill to be worked on, Passing across the right information without being misinterpreted or other people getting a different meaning is a very good skill.
As a PM I have learnt that dropping a piece of bad news on a group of stakeholders is like dropping a bombshell and might not go well in the long run but you can do well by meeting them one by one and escalating the issues to them and this make me realize that communicating some information to the stakeholders as a group is determined by the kind of information we need to pass across.

  359. Communication is emphasis much on by the speakers and I am wow by their communication skills and understanding.
As a project manager i agree that communication skills should be built more on and emphasis on as without it stakeholders involved in the activities of managing project or series of project will find it difficult to carry out a successful project and action plan

  360. Communication will be one of the main skills they all worked on. In order to obtain thorough feedback from stakeholders, it is critical for project managers to recognize that good communication is essential, and that we should customize our communication approach to each stakeholder’s area of expertise.

  361. The three project managers all demonstrated strong communication skills. However, the approach I’ve endeavored to adopt within my team focuses on developing a comprehensive communication plan. This plan outlines the recipients of communication, the timing of communication, the methods employed for communication, the content of communication, and strategies tailored to different team members’ needs and preferences. It’s essential to recognize that individuals within the team have varying communication styles and requirements.
Furthermore, effective communication extends beyond conveying positive news; it also involves addressing challenges and failures transparently. It’s crucial to articulate setbacks and collaboratively devise strategies for overcoming them. Transparency with stakeholders is paramount throughout this process.

  362. What got my attention is what one of the project managers said. She said a project manager needs to have a communication chat. I believe this skill will me to be able to process my words and express it well. I need to know what to say, how and when to say them. I need to arrange and express my information or discussion with either the team members or the stakeholders without conflict.
More importantly, communication skill is very essential for project manager to execute a successful project.

  363. The three project managers spoke really good, but the one I have tried to apply in my team work is setting or drafting a communication chat, stating who to communicate, when to communicate, how to communicate, what to communicate and also strategies in communication because, all team members or individuals are not the same. So I must have and know the right words to use when needed. Another thing is communication is not just all about passing goods news so to say but also passing bad new to the team like failure and how to come out of it. Just make sure u are very transparent to the stakeholders.

  364. Since the stakeholders may not necessarily be knowledgeable about project planning, communication is therefore, key to a successful project. The Project Manager shouldn’t bring to the table at a first meeting, the problems so as not to discourage anyone from the outset. This doesn’t equal being clandestine about issues. After his own personal findings, thinking and development, he can then come back to the table and present the advantages and disadvantages of the steps, levels and all involving the project.
Also, communication with the stakeholders adequately, enable each member to be upfront and be willing to open up on their thoughts and progress on the project.
In conclusion, a project isn’t a one-man assignment, every stakeholder should be properly carried along as two or more good heads yield better results.

  365. Communication is essential for ensuring clarity, alignment, and collaboration among team members and stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle.
An also in addition it helps to put every stakeholder on the project on the same page, thus reducing surprises and friction between team members and stakeholders.

  366. Communication is an essential tool to successfully complete a project. A project manager as such need to use any or all of the communication style discussed in this lesson.
Firstly, a project manager needs to communicate advance with all stakeholders as s regard how the project should be carry out and also there need for constant communication as the project progress.
Personally, in the organization where I currently work as a brand assistant, I most times use the planned and constant communication style to communicate with all stakeholders involved in a particular project.

  367. Communication with the stakeholders in vital in completing the project successfully. First plan the communication in advance, state the Objective of the project, the goals, the budget and expected outcome of the project.
